My Philosophy
I am dedicated to providing the families of Southern Nevada with positive childbirth and lactation education and
assistance in their birth experience. I firmly believe that ALL women deserve the opportunity to benefit from the
educational opportunities and doula services that I offer. I understand that we are living in tough economic times
and want to welcome all women to contact me regarding my services- regardless of financial situation. We can
work together to make arrangements that suit your needs.

What is HypnoBirthing®?
HypnoBirthing®, The Mongan Method uses self-hypnosis, relaxation, visualization and breathing techniques to
prepare mother and baby for childbirth. Classes are offered by Certified HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator Jackie
Georgiou in Henderson and in Las Vegas.
The HypnoBirthing® childbirth method is as much a philosophy of birthing as it is a technique for an easier, safer,
and more comfortable childbirth. HypnoBirthing® teaches a mother, along with her birth companion, the joy of
experiencing birth in an easier, more comfortable and often pain-free manner that most nearly mirrors nature.
Mothers learn how to use relaxation and self-hypnosis to eliminate the fear and tension that can cause long labor
and pain, replacing it with confidence, calm and comfort. HypnoBirthing® moms will learn how to call upon their
bodies' own natural epidural, lessening or even eliminating pain and the need for medication. When mind and body
are in harmony, nature is free to function in the same well-designed manner that it does with all other creatures.
Henderson HypnoBirthing® is currently enrolling for 2009 classes. At Henderson HypnoBirthing® we believethat
ALL families should have the opportunity to experience a calm, gentile birth. If the cost of childbirth education is

Henderson HypnoBirthing is currently offering Breastfeeding Education classes in our Henderson location. I offer
group or private classes to meet every family's needs. Group classes are available for $40.00 per couple and private
classes are available for $75.00 per couple. Each class is designed in a 2 1/2 hour format.
Why should I take a Breastfeeding Education course?
Breastfeeding Education classes - intended for pregnant moms and partners- are a vital step in establishing a healthy
breastfeeding relationship between you and your newborn!
Who should attend?
Since a support network is vital in the success of breastfeeding, we welcome moms to bring not only their partner,
but any family member that will play an active role in the postpartum period. Typically this will include a
grandmother, sister, aunt or close friend. Moms, please speak with Jackie if you are planning on attending class with
more than one companion.

Birth Doula
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained
and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother
before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier
and they breastfeeding more easily.

A Birth Doula:
- Recognizes birth as a key experience the mother will remember all her life
- Understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor
- Assists the woman in preparing for and carrying out her plans for birth
- Stays with the woman throughout the labor
- Provides emotional support, physical comfort measures and an objective viewpoint, as well as helping the
woman get the information she needs to make informed decision - Facilitates communication between the laboring woman, her partner and her clinical care providers
- Perceives her role as nurturing and protecting the woman's memory of the birth experience
- Allows the woman's partner to participate at his/her comfort level
